Abstract

My research consists of an exhaustive corpus analysis of Spanish deverbal nominalizations, with a special focus on State Nominalizations, such as preocupación [preoccupation] and interés [interest]. Whereas traditional research has mainly offered introspective descriptions and has focused basically on the dichotomy between Event (la construcción de la casa por Juan [the building of the house by John]) and Result/Referential (una magnífica construcción [a beautiful building]) Nominalizations, I thus offer an empirical analysis that comprises not only Event and Referential Nominalizations, but also a large range of State Nominalizations.
