Jonna Thiel is a doctoral researcher at Ghent University, in the German section of the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication. She holds a Master’s degree in English and Biology (2007, Bremen University) and Teaching (2010, Ghent University). Since 2025, she has been researching the effect of gender-fair language on motivation and cognitive performance. Her research interests include language effects on sense of belonging, stereotype threat, bilingualism and thinking, and language as a practice of social improvement.
