Jonna Thiel is a doctoral researcher at Ghent University, in the German section of the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication. She holds a Master’s degree in English and Biology (2007, Bremen University) and Teaching (2010, Ghent University). Since 2025, she has been researching the effect of gender-fair language on motivation and performance in cognitive tasks. Her research interests include the effects of language on sense of belonging and stereotype threat as well as the possibility to use language as a tool to mitigate negative effects of stereotype threat.
