Ruben Suykerbuyk is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of History at Ghent University. His field of expertise is fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Netherlandish cultural history, with a focus on religious art and material culture. He has published several articles on Michiel Coxcie, Zoutleeuw’s church of Saint Leonard, as well as on the Reformation, iconoclasm and its impact on Catholic piety in the Low Countries. His current research project focuses on religious patronage and memoria practices in the sixteenth century.
