Francesca Samorì obtained her PhD in Byzantine Studies in June 2023, with a joint degree thesis (University of Padua and École Pratique des Hautes Études, Paris) entitled “Giorgio Metochites, Historia dogmatica, Book I. Edition, Translation, and Commentary”. From 2023 to 2025 she was a research fellow at the University of Padua (Italy), and currently is an FWO Junior Postdoctoral Fellow, working at Ghent University.
Her research focuses primarily on the intellectual and religious history of the Late-Byzantine Empire, particularly in relation to the religious controversy surrounding the union between the Byzantine and Roman Churches.
