Jorn Hubo is a PhD Researcher at Ghent University, Department of Dutch Literature. Previously, he worked for Vlaamse Erfgoedbibliotheken on the registration project Medieval Manuscripts in Flemish Collections. In his current project, Rerouting the ‘Ridderroman’. Adaptation Strategies in the Poetics of the 14th-Century Middle Dutch Ridderroman, Jorn questions the position of the literary adaptation strategies of amalgamation and amplification with regards to the poetics of the fourteenth-century Middle Dutch romance. He does so by analyzing both these intratextual strategies and the dynamic material and socio-cultural contexts in which they functioned. One of the goals of the project is to recalibrate the position of the late Middle Dutch romance in the evolution of both Dutch and international romance. Further research interests include the dynamics of textual performance and reception, manuscript studies, questions of genre, intertextuality and adaptation, and the discourse of courtly love.
