Robbe Vandersmissen is a PhD candidate in Scandinavian Literature in the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University, and affiliated researcher at the Section for the Sociology of Literature at Uppsala University. He studied German and Scandinavian studies and Education in Ghent and Stockholm. His research project 'Publishing between profit and prestige', supervised by Prof. Daan Vandenhaute and funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), examines the impact of commercialization, digitalization and globalization on the role, functioning and position of publishing houses in the contemporary field of fiction publishing in Sweden. The project aims to analyze the structure of the Swedish literary publishing field and unravel the production logics that are at play. Robbe's research interests lie at the intersection of sociology of literature, distant reading and publishing studies.
