Abstract

Daniele Dibello works on a doctoral project concerning the Venetian state formation in the mainland between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. To estimate the city-state experience's weight on the broader territorial state, it includes a comparative part on the Milanese, Florentine, Genoese, and Flemish case. The Venetian governance of the mainland focuses his research's attention, especially intending to highlight the informal characters that allowed the Serenissima to rule the Italian territories. Finally, his project connects the Venetian state formation with the Italian trade networks that Rialto managed in the late Middle Ages.
