Jan-Jasper Persijn (°1990, Ghent) achieved a Bachelor degree in Philosophy in 2011 after studying at both Ghent University (BE) and the Università degli Studi di Firenze (IT). He achieved a Master degree in Philosophy in 2012 at Ghent University with a dissertation on Alain Badiou’s L’être et l’événement: “Transcendental Motives in the Ontological Work of Alain Badiou”. In 2013, he started as a PhD candidate at the Centre for Critical Philosophy (Ghent University) on contemporary figures of political subjectivity: “The Emancipatory Potential of the ‘Evental’ Subject in Contemporary Political Philosophy. A Theoretical Study of Political Transformation on the basis of Alain Badiou’s Philosophy.” His current interests are mostly political aspects of the work of Badiou, Žižek, Rancière, Arendt, Mouffe, Laclau etc.
