Following research fellowships at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo and Yale University, I returned to Ghent as a postdoctoral fellow in English Literature. My research, which is funded by the Flemish Research Foundation, looks at how modernist literature was shaped by its political context—especially by wars and waning empires. I've written on these topics for both academic and mainstream journals, such as PMLA and the Times Literary Supplement. I am the author of Modernism, Material Culture and the First World War (EUP, forthcoming), and co-editor of the Edinburgh Companion to First World War Periodicals (EUP, 2023) and The Intellectual Response to the First World War (Sussex, 2017).
I currently also help coordinate 20cc and serve as reviews editor for the Journal of European Periodical Studies. Feel free to contact me if there's a book you'd like to review.
