Dr. Sofie de Smet is a postdoctoral researcher affiliated to the research group S:PAM (Ghent University) and the Parenting and Special Education Research Unit (KU Leuven). Sofie obtained her joint PhD in Psychology (KU Leuven) and Theatre Studies (Ghent University) in 2019 with her interdisciplinary dissertation on coping with collective violence and exile in applied theatre It will always be Temporary. In 2020 she received an FWO junior postdoctoral fellowship. Her current interdisciplinary research focuses on the development of refugee posttrauma care in the field of transcultural psychology and applied theatre in western host societies, including an analysis of the role of trauma narration in community-based mental health interventions.
