Ellen Decoo is a doctoral candidate at the Centre for Research on Gender and Culture of Ghent University working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chia Longman. Ellen obtained her bachelor's degree in 2011 and her master's in 2014 from Brigham Young University in Utah (U.S.A.). Both of her degrees are in sociology with a research focus on gender and LGBTQ issues. Her master's thesis was on "Changing attitudes towards homosexuality in the United States from 1977 to 2012." She currently teaches sociology at Salt Lake Community College in Utah, but splits her time between Utah and Belgium.
Her PhD focuses on gender roles in Mormonism, specifically on the diversity among Belgian Mormon women from a feminist and intersectional perspective.
