Marta Capano is a historical linguist and a classicist, her primary research interests are Greek linguistics – especially ancient Greek phonology –, language contact, bilingualism, and the languages attested in inscriptions from ancient Sicily. Additionally, she is interested in the history of Greek in Medieval southern Italy, and its interactions with Romance languages. She holds a B.A. (2012) and a M.A. (2015) from Università di Pisa and a Ph.D. from Università degli Studi di Napoli l'Orientale. Marta has previously been Cultrice della Materia at Pisa, Visiting Senior Associate Member at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, and Research Assistant at the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics of the University of Oxford. She has published some articles and co-edited three volumes (two of which are about to be published with Brill), and she is working on turning her Ph.D. thesis into a monograph. At Ghent University, she is a scientific collaborator for the ERC project EVWRIT.
