Almendra Villalta holds a BSc in Psychology from the National Major University of San Marcos (2020) and a European Joint Master’s Degree in Clinical Linguistics (2024) completed at the University of Groningen, Ghent University, and the University of Eastern Finland.
Her professional experience includes working as a psychologist and language therapist for children with neurodevelopmental disorders and leading language development programs in Peru. In her previous research at the master’s level, Almendra collaborated with the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language (BCBL) in Spain. This work explored the effects of bilingualism on the rebalance of auditory processing.
Since 2024, she is pursuing her PhD at the Department of Translation, Interpreting, and Communication at Ghent University, where she is a member of the MULTIPLES research group. Her doctoral research focuses on the development of an academic vocabulary test for Spanish as a second language, aiming to bridge gaps in language assessment for non-native Spanish speakers.
