I am an FWO research fellow at Ghent University. My research interests include biography/hagiography and lineage formation across capital-based and local Buddhist communities in medieval China, monastic-secular interactions and social networks, as well as the evolution of Buddhist rituals in the context of intellectual, political, and social history. My current research project focuses on the formation of Buddhist deity-invoking rituals in medieval China and further across the Silk and Steppe Roads, particularly in the context of mortuary practices and tomb culture.
