Aurélie De Waele holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (2018, KU Leuven, Belgium) on the topic of crisis communication. She has worked as a guest professor at the Departments of Communication Studies at Ghent University, KU Leuven and University of Antwerp in Belgium, and as a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Evaluation of Vaccination at the University of Antwerp.
Currently, she is working as a post-doctoral assistant at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication at Ghent University and as an assistant professor at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Antwerp.
She is a member of the steering committee of the organizational communication division of the Netherlands-Flanders Communication Association (NeFCA).
Her research interests include crisis communication, corporate communication, communication about vaccination and misinformation. She has a special interest in nonverbal aspects of these types of communication.
Her research has been published in journals such as Communication Research, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Health Communication, Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Public Relations Review and Vaccine.
