Eloise Forestier obtained her PhD in 2020 and is currently a senior FWO postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University. Her project ("Mauled and Mangled"? Anglo-Swedish Translation Partnerships and Transnational Feminist Networks (1837-1921)) focuses on the collaboration between famous Swedish writers and their lesser known Anglophone translators, all of whom were strong advocates for the women’s movement. The project argues that these translators emerged as key cultural transmitters, helping to raise the international profile of Swedish writers while their translations played a crucial role in spreading shared feminist ideologies.
Eloise has published the monograph Transnational Feminism in 19C Swedish Literature and Periodical Culture: Entangled Dreams and Cross Cultural Encounters (Brill, 2024) and several articles on the transnational and political influence of women editors from Britain, France and Sweden. She is on the editorial team of JEPS.
