Shin, Eun Kyoung is a PhD candidate in the Theatre, Performance and Media department at Ghent University. Originally trained as an actor, she has worked professionally with a range of companies in a variety of TV drama, film, and Theatre in Korea. She studied a BA in Theatre and Film from Kookmin University and completed a Master course of the theatre theory at Hanyang University in Seoul.
In October 2012, she was awarded a scholarship by the Erasmus Mundus and visited exchange course at La Coruna University in Spain and Nice Sophia Antipolis University in France. She holds an MA from Goethe University in Frankfurt. In the master thesis, she explored the possibility to work with ‘Text’ in the contemporary theatre (2015).
In August 2016, she was selected a research fellow at the Arts Council Korea and made on the on/offline performance project 25ours as a creative producer. Her interest centre on the interactions between audience and performer, with a specific focus on Martin Buber’s ‘I and You’ and Zhuangzi’s ‘Wuwei: non-doing.’
