Laure Coppieters earned a Master's degree in French Language and Literature (summa cum laude) at Ghent University (2023). She is currently a PhD candidate working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pierre Schoentjes at the Department of Literary studies. Her research project, funded by FWO, focuses on twentieth-century nature writing by four French women authors—some renowned, others overlooked—which she revisits through an ecopoetic lens as developed in French criticism ("écopoétique"). By conducting close readings of mainly imaginative texts within their historical contexts, she simultaneously studies the literary techniques used to depict the natural world and humanity’s relationship with it, as well as the values and perspectives on nature these techniques bring to light.
