Merel De Keyzer is a BOF Research Fellow at Ghent University’s department of Languages and Cultures. Her research focuses on the intersection of youth culture and cultural politics in contemporary Russia. In 2022 she earned her Master of Arts in East European Languages and Cultures with a dissertation on translating Western young adult literature into Russian. Since October 2023 she has been working on a PhD project, which examines word-based art by young authors, who have been subjected to sociopolitical silencing during Russia’s authoritarian consolidation of 2012-2022.
