Abstract

Olfactory aesthetic experience plays a significant role in classical Chinese culture and is a vital component of traditional Chinese aesthetic experience. Due to historical reasons in modern China, olfactory aesthetic experience has been marginalized or even forgotten in contemporary aesthetic research. This dissertation, based on Daoist cultural life and focused on olfactory aesthetic experience, aims to construct a contemporary theoretical framework in aesthetic discourse by examining Daoist olfactory aesthetics, cultural practices, and theoretical resources.
