Abstract

This PhD thesis is part of the KongoKing project, an interdisciplinary research program using archaeology and historical linguistics in order to better understand the Kongo kingdom. Within this framework, this PhD project attempts to develop a chrono-typological sequence of the pottery within the realm of Kongo Kingdom. The research focusses mostly on the Lower Congo province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, i.e. the northern provinces of the former Kongo kingdom.
