Abstract

This project wishes to integrate the concept of "chronopolitics" in the historiographical traditions which study the emergence of modern policy-making in the 18th century, the  political Enlightenment as the construction of a political-activist citizenship and historical culture as a mode of self-historicization. It is the objective of this project to include the Austrian Netherlands and the Dutch Republic in current research on the modernization of political practices in public culture, by focusing on the aspect of political time and chronopolitics in revolutionary languages in a transnational comparative research project.
