Abstract

This research project aims at a critical analysis of the education to adolescent newcomers in Flanders (OKAN) (viz. use of funding, organization, role and profile of different staff members) and the impact of OKAN on the pupil’s school careers. These insights are gained via a multilayered design: 1) reconstruction of OKAN pupil’s school careers on the basis of administrative data bases; 2) online survey of relevant actors at school and intermediate level; 3) in-depth case study of 5 primary and 5 secondary schools and 4) expert seminars to discuss the results and recommendations. On the basis of several valorization products the findings will be distributed widely and in a transparent way.
