Seppe Segers is an assistant professor of Biomedical Ethics at Maastricht University, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences, Ghent University and member of the Bioethics Institute Ghent (BIG).
His main research interests concern the ethics of reproductive medicine, embryo research, germline gene editing, fetal medicine, the moral importance of genetic parenthood and philosophy of need. He also works on the ‘DIME’ ERC project, focussing on the ethical aspects of broader, more general evolutions in medicine and the impact of disruptive innovation in healthcare on medical ethics.
Seppe’s interests lie in social and political theory, normative ethics, meta-ethics, ethics of technology, engineering ethics, and philosophy of medicine.
Seppe is junior deputy of the Special Interest Group (SIG) Ethics and Law of ESHRE.
