My research aims at studying Biyo, a language spoken by groups of the ethnic Hani minority in China that is facing a very serious situation. It is no longer taught to the younger generations, while fluent speakers are frequently of considerable age and on the verge of disappearing. Even if some young people have an interest in learning the language, there are no official or unofficial learning programs for Biyo. Thus, it is an endangered language and it is a highly important and urgent task to conduct language documentation on it.
