Dra. Sofie de Smet holds a degree in Psychology (Catholic University of Leuven) and a degree in Performance Studies and Film (Ghent University). In her master thesis she explored the concept of trauma reconstruction in relation to the potential of postdramatic aesthetics in visual and performing arts.
In October 2014, she started her doctoral research on the role of nonnarrative modes of trauma coping in the performing arts in the framework of an FWO-NRF research project (PI Christel Stalpaert). In 2015, she continued her PhD with a BOF-fellowship, as a Joint Doctorate (main promotors: Prof. Dr. Christel Stalpaert and Prof. Dr. Lucia De Haene).
