Tessa Vannieuwenhuyze is a doctoral researcher with a specific interest in the theatrical presence of the music performer, particularly in the light of new media. Her current research probes the concept of persona across popular music and contemporary performance. Other research interests of hers, which often intersect with her current topic of study, include everything related to media fandom, fan studies and forms of autotheory. She holds a master’s degree in Art History, Musicology and Theatre Studies from Ghent University, as well as an advanced master’s in Literature Studies (KU Leuven).
As a dramaturge, Tessa collaborates with performance collective oester. She serves as an editor for Documenta, Tijdschrift voor Theater and occasionally writes theatre reviews for Etcetera, of which she is also an editorial board member.
