Yannis Brichant is a PhD student at the History Department of Ghent University. He specialises in the late antiquity, and more specifically the later Roman Empire. He obtained his B.A.-degree (2020) and M.A.-degree (2021) at Ghent University, the latter with a M.A.-thesis about the origin of the late-Roman senior generals and Constantius II’s policy concerning these generals. Afterwards, he obtained a Master of Education (2023). His research interests lay in prosopography, political, institutional, military, and socio-economic history.
Currently, he is working on a project, funded by the FWO, which tries to track the institutional and socio-economic evolutions in the Eastern Roman aristocracy (565-641).
