This study examines the place, importance and significance of the institutional solo exhibition within the oeuvre of Belgian artist Jan Vercruysse (1948-2018).
Jan Vercruysse can be seen as an exhibition artist, he devoted extraordinary importance to the creation of exhibitions and often took over the position of curator. The format of the solo exhibition allowed Vercruysse to seek new connections between different (series of) works and enabled him to reflect on his own oeuvre.
