Helena Snoeck is a doctoral researcher currently working on a joint PhD project at Ghent University and Antwerp University. She aims to research interpreting patterns and (un)professional practices, with a particular focus on interpreters working in the municipal and police stages of sham marriage investigations in Flanders.
She has previously worked as a researcher on the Ergonomics for the Artificial Boothmate (EABM) project in which Ghent University and the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz focussed on creating a future-proof CAI tool which uses speech recognition technology to create a user-friendly interpreting tool and enhance interpreting performance in the booth.
She completed her studies at Ghent University's Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication, and has obtained a BA in Applied Linguistics and an MA in Interpreting, and a postgraduate degree in Conference Interpreting (Dutch (A), English (B), Spanish (C)).
