Rachele Ricceri earned her BA (2006) and MA (2009) degrees in Classics at the University of Catania, Italy. In 2010, she obtained the Diploma in Greek Paleography at the Vatican School of Paleography. She completed a joint PhD in Classical Philology at Ghent University and the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2013, focusing on Gregory of Nazianzus' poetry.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the Database of Byzantine Book Epigrams, currently serving as the content manager. Beginning in 2018, she embarked on a postdoctoral research position within a project exploring the reception of the Psalms in Byzantine poetry. This project, funded by the Flemish Research Council and the Austrian Research Council, has been a collaboration between Ghent University, KU Leuven, and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In 2019, Rachele was as a summer fellow at Dumbarton Oaks (Harvard University).
Her research interests encompass textual criticism and Greek palaeography, with a specific focus on late antique and Byzantine poetry. She is engaged in exploring the reception of the Psalms in Byzantium, investigating the interaction between texts and paratexts on the manuscript page, and studying the transmission of Byzantine metrical paratexts.
