Tim Noens (°1992) is a postdoctoral research fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation, affiliated to the Department of English and Comparative Studies of Fordham University, New York City. His research interests are the literature and art from Antiquity and Late Antiquity, modern and contemporary art, literary theory, and comparative methodologies. In 2019, he defended his doctoral dissertation, 'A Reader's Dialogues. Discussing Latin Literature of the First Century through Modernism' (Ghent University; Flanders Research Foundation; Supervisor: Wim Verbaal). His thesis proposes a comparative approach to Flavian and Nerva-Trajanic literature, reading works such as Statius' Thebaid, Pliny's Letters and Quintilian's Institutio through modernist texts (Beckett, Nabokov, Borges, Celan, Calvino and Joyce). Furthermore, Tim Noens is co-coordinator of the international research group RELICS (Researchers of European Literatures, Cosmopolitanism and the Schools) and editorial board member of the 'Journal of Latin Cosmopolitanism and European Literatures' and the Dutch popular-science journal 'Hermeneus'.
