Irene Cenni is a research and teaching assistant in the Italian section of the department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication (Ghent University) where she is affiliated to the research group MULTIPLES. She obtained a Master degree in Italian Language and Culture (2010) and a Research Master in Linguistics (2012) at Leiden University (The Netherlands). From 2010 till 2015 she has worked as a teaching assistant for LUCL (Leiden University Centre of Linguistics, 2010-2012) and for the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication (Ghent University, 2012-). In October 2015 she started working on her PhD project on the pragmalinguistic features of computer-mediated tourism discourse, focusing on Italian, English and Dutch, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Patrick Goethals. Her research interests include pragmatics, sociolinguistics, intercultural communication, multilingualism, foreign language teaching and second and third language acquisition.
