Malika M’rani Alaoui is currently working as a PhD student and assistant at the Department of Art History, Musicology and Theatre studies at Ghent University, with a joint PhD with the KU Leuven. Her PhD research focuses on the nineteenth-century Triennial Art Salons of Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. Malika obtained her Master’s degree in Museum Curating at the University of Amsterdam in 2017. While a student, she was a curatorial trainee at the photography and 19th-century paintings department at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam (2016-2017). Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, she worked for the Netherlands Institute for Art History and the Stedelijk Museum Breda. From 2017-2019, she was secretary of the European Society of Nineteenth Century Art (ESNA).
