Abstract

This project aims to analyse the depiction of foster families in Old Norse and Icelandic sagas. This research focuses on relationships between foster families and the emotions that surround the concept of fosterage in the sagas. This goes together with a number of sub questions, such as whether these relationships, and the emotions connected to the relationships, are presented in a positive or negative manner. If the representation is the same throughout all saga genres and what language does the author use to create this image.
