Thibaut Duthois is a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Diversity & Learning (Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University) and the Department of Educational Studies. His PhD is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ruben Vanderlinde, Prof. Dr. Piet Van Avermaet, and Prof. Dr. Maribel Montero Perez.
He obtained his teacher’s diploma from Arteveldehogeschool in 2019 and completed a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences at Ghent University in 2022. During his studies, he conducted research on the reading motivation of newly arrived migrant students and published his first educational textbook, Overhaald, in 2021. The book is a collection of short stories written in accessible language and accompanied by a learning method.
Thibaut’s doctoral research examines inequities in language stimulation and language development in early childhood education and forms part of the FWO-SBO project TACOS. In this work, he employs mobile eye-tracking technology to investigate how teachers distribute their attention in the classroom.

Thibaut behaalde in 2019 zijn diploma lerarenopleiding aan de Arteveldehogeschool en rondde in 2022 zijn master in de pedagogische wetenschappen af aan de Universiteit Gent. Hij deed onderzoek naar de leesmotivatie van nieuwkomers in het onderwijs en publiceerde in 2021 zijn eerste educatieve boek Overhaald. Het is een toegankelijk geschreven verhalenbundel, inclusief een uitgewerkte leermethode.
Zijn doctoraatsonderzoek richt zich op ongelijkheid in taalontwikkeling en taalstimulering van kleuters. Zijn doctoraatsonderzoek maakt gebruik van mobiele eye tracking om de aandachtsverdeling van kleuterleraren te onderzoeken en is deel van het FWO.SBO-project TACOS.
