I am a landscape archaeologist working on settlement and land use patterns in Metal Age societies (Copper, Bronze, and Iron Ages) of the Mediterranean. My research interests include archaeological prospection, geophysics and remote sensing, pre- and protohistory, archaeological methodology, and ethnoarchaeology. I study (micro-)regional land use by pre-Roman communities in Italy, with case studies in Marche (Pitino, Monte Franco, Montarice, Monte Primo; Monte Croce Guardia) and Veneto (Frattesina). I am also involved in studies of protohistoric salt production on the Tyrrhenian coast and in non-invasive research of a Mycenaean palace in Laconia, Greece. My current BOF-funded research focuses on prehistoric land use and mobility in two Italian mountain landscapes: the Pollino range (Calabria-Basilicata) and the Upper Potenza Valley (Marche-Umbria).
