I am a postdoctoral researcher on the ERC Causality project led by Alexandra Simonenko at Ghent University. In this project, I investigate the potential causal relationship between verbal subject agreement syncretisation and the disappearance of null subjects in West Germanic languages. My research focuses on morpho-syntactic patterns in language variation and change, using a quantitative approach. I am particularly interested in integrating NLP techniques and language models into linguistic research.
Prior to joining Ghent University, I completed my PhD at Université Paris Cité (formerly Université Paris Diderot) under the supervision of Heather Burnett and Pascal Amsili. My doctoral dissertation explored the interplay between formal syntax, information theory, and linguistic variation in French, as part of the ERC SMIC project led by Heather Burnett. I hold an MA in theoretical linguistics from Université Paris Diderot and have received training in machine learning.
