Laura Van Brussel is doing her PhD on the ArisToCAT project (Assessing the Comprehensibility of Automated Translation) as a member of the Language and Translation Technology Team.
After her master Oriental Languages and Cultures (Ghent University), she obtained a postgraduate in specialised translation (KULeuven Campus Antwerp). There she got in touch with the technological and practical side of the translation business. She worked as a project manager in a translation agency for almost 2 years (mostly on medical translations), hence her practical perspective and interest in the quality and applicability of machine translation (and translation technology in general) in real life.
