Rihab Ben Othmen wrote a dissertation entitled: "La Femme et les Ulémas au Temps des Mamelouks Circassiens" (University of Tunis). Her primary research interests are in the Cultural History and the History of Gender in Mamluk times.
From 2013 to 2014 she was a PhD fellow at the "Annemarie Schimmel Kolleg: History and Society during the Mamluk Era (1250-1517)".
Rihab is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC project "The Mamlukisation of the Mamluk Sultanate-II" within which her researches undertake the historical writings and narratological strategies of the 15th century Mamluk historian Abu al-Mahasin Ibn Taghribirdi (812-874/1410-1470).
