Benoît Crucifix is a researcher in visual culture and comics studies. His current post-doctoral project, as part of the ERC-funded program "COMICS" at UGent, focuses on children’s drawing and creative tactics of child readers in European French-language comics. As a FNRS doctoral fellow at ULiège and UCLouvain, he wrote a dissertation on comics memory in the North American graphic novel. Overall, he is interested in different gestures that compose with comics as a visual material culture to be read, used, manipulated, handled, passed down, reframed in a variety of contexts and settings. He is a co-editor of the peer-reviewed journal Comicalités, and a member of ACME, La Brèche, IAWIS and LPCM.
