Shikha Gupta, a PhD student at University Gent, Arts and Philosophy Department, is working on her research project: Bhaiṣajyaguru: Iconography and Rituals of Medicine Buddha across Asia. She has a background in history of art and archaeology of India and Central Asia. Prior joining to the University Gent, she worked with National Museum, New Delhi in the Central Asian Antiquities Department, as a Researcher and Museum Assistant. She holds her M.A. in History of Art (2017-19) from the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Museology and Conservation, New Delhi. She submitted her dissertation titled “The Temples of Aravalli. Case Study: Yogmaya and Kalkaji Temple, Delhi.”
Her research interests are in studying religious iconography and architecture. She also likes to explore and learn about the rituals, practices, and ceremonial objects of Hindu and Buddhist Pantheon Deities.
