Aleksandra Michałko is a PhD Candidate at the Institute for Systematic Musicology (IPEM) in Ghent, Belgium. She holds a BD in Linguistics and Literature from KU Leuven. She obtained master's in Music Performance at the LUCA School of Art and in Music Studies: Cognitive and Computational Musicology at the University of Amsterdam.
Her research focuses on exploring different sources of knowledge transfer in instrumental music training. She investigated the influence of figurative language on the music performance and underlying correlations between semantic labelling of musical timbre and flute sounds’ acoustic properties. She investigated use of figurative language in musicians’ discourse and semantic labelling of musical timbre. Currently she studies the use of advanced technologies in instrumental music training.
