Ellen Soens is a PhD candidate at Ghent University, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in Business Communication (KU Leuven). After graduating, she worked at KU Leuven as program coordinator for the master in Business Communication for one year. Since September 2020, she is conducting research on employees’ work-related social media use at the Research Centre for Multilingual Practices and Language Learning in Society (MULTIPLES) of Ghent University. In October 2021 she obtained funding from the Research Foundation Flanders for the project “Understanding and managing employees' work-related social media use: Minimizing risks and maximizing opportunities”. Her research interests include strategic communication, crisis communication, employee social media use, corporate social media guidelines and employee ambassadorship programs. Her research has been published in Journal of Communication Management.
