Emma Ydiers (they/she) obtained a Master in History (Ghent University) in 2019 with a research that focused on dominant commemoration tendencies of the sexual revolution in the Dutch public debate (1968-2018). Emma is mainly interested in tensions between the past and the present, the potentiality of community-based history projects, and the manifestation of power dynamics in dominant historical narratives concerning gender and sexuality. Since December 2020, Emma is working as a PhD researcher (Department of History, Ghent University) on a project that puts forward the concept of intersectionality as a critical inquiry and a praxis in activism against sexism and racism in Dutch-speaking Belgium (1970-2010).

Emma has given several guest lectures for the Master Gender & Diversity.

Emma is assisting the course Gender History.

Emma guided a seminar group for the course Historical Practice II: Modern and Contemporary History (2021-2022). The seminar approaches histories of women's movements operating in Flanders from an intersectional perspective (1970-2010).
