Giorgio Busi Rizzi is post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Literary Studies within the ERC project Children in Comics: An Intercultural History (1865-) (P.I.: Prof. Maaheen Ahmed).
At Ghent University he was already BOF post-doctoral researcher, with a project called Experimental digital comics: forms and functions (2019-2022). The project examined the way digital comics experiment with the possibilities offered by their format, reflecting on the forms that can be adopted in the digital environment once the page format is no longer a constraint, and investigating their specificities for what concerns multimodality, immersion, and interactivity.
He holds a PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies with joint supervision from the Universities of Bologna and Leuven. His PhD thesis, analyzing nostalgic aesthetics and practices in contemporary graphic novels, is currently submitted for publication.
Giorgio teaches the Literature in English: Modern Period II course, and co-teaches the course on Comics and Graphic Novels.
