Jeroen Van Bouwel is currently a Visiting Professor of Philosophy at Ghent University, where he also has been a member of the Centre for Logic and Philosophy and Philosophy of Science since 1999. He holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy (1996), in History (1998), a Teaching Certificate in Philosophy (Aggregaat in de Wijsbegeerte, 1997) as well as a Ph.D. in Philosophy (2003).
His research activities are focused on philosophy of the social sciences, social epistemology and the relation(s) between science and democracy. He has been supervising Ph.D. and four-year research projects on The Pragmatics of Scientific Explanation, Modelling in Economics, Explanation and Causality in Biomed, Science & Values, Social Epistemology and Science & Democracy. He published over 50 articles in refereed journals, two monographs, and edited or co-edited four volumes – the most recent one being the Oxford Handbook of Philosophy of Political Science (together with Harold Kincaid).
