Dr Palmer started her archeological career at the University of Ghent, where she obtained a Master’s in prehistory. After side quests in journalism and field archeology, she moved to Leiden to specialize in ancient human remains. There she obtained her MSc and PhD. She is now an FWO funded postdoc. Her current research is on the relation between diet, disease, environmental factors, and socio-economic status. She applies paleoproteomics, dietary stable isotopic analyses and paleopathological analysis to answer these research questions. Her main focus is on Post-Medieval Aalst for her postdoctoral project.
