Jordi Serrano-Muñoz focuses on comparative literature, ecocriticism, and transpacific connections. He is currently a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Ghent University.
He has taught at the Open University of Catalonia, the University of Granada, and El Colegio de México. He was also a Japan Foundation Fellow (2021-2022) at Waseda University.
His current research lines involve the relationship between literature, the climate crisis, and disasters in contemporary narratives, particularly from Japan, Latin America, and Australia. He is editor and co-founder of Asiademica: Open Journal of East Asian Studies and member of the research groups GREGAL-UAB, STAND-UGR and TRAMEVIC-UV. He is also member of the teaching innovation project on devising methodologies to identify violences against women in literature (INDOVIG 2021-2025).
He holds a Ph.D. in the Humanities from the Pompeu Fabra University; a research master in literary studies from the University of Leiden; and a degree in East Asian Studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He has received a Marie Skłodowska Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship (2025-2027), a Japan Foundation Fellowship (2021-2022), and a ‘la Caixa’ International Postgraduate Fellowship (2013-2015).
