Laurence Balliu is a PhD candidate at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication at Ghent University (Faculty of Arts and Philosophy). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Language Studies (Dutch, English & French) and a Master's degree in Multilingual Communication (Dutch, English & French). In November 2022, she started researching community relations, in order to explore how organisations should communicate to the impacted public during a crisis. In November 2024 she obtained funding from the Research Foundation Flanders for the project “Towards a more effective crisis response: The complexities and opportunities of collaboration between public relations and legal counsel in organizational crisis communication”. She is affiliated with the Research Centre for Multilingual Practices and Language Learning in Society (MULTIPLES) of Ghent University.
